Jet Smashes Smaller Plane at Boston Airport

A pair of planes crashed at Boston’s Logan Airport last night, injuring at least one woman. A large Delta 767 with 204 passengers was preparing to take off when its wing sliced through the tail of a smaller plane on a taxiway, the Boston Globe reports. Dozens of emergency vehicles rushed to the scene, and one woman was taken to the hospital with minor neck injuries.

It’s unclear as yet what caused the crash, and the FAA is investigating. The planes were on nearly perpendicular taxiways, and the smaller plane, a Canadair regional flight carrying 74 passengers, was stationary. The Canadair plane sustained damage to its hydraulics and brakes, and wasn’t able to taxi back to the terminal. “Maybe once in the 32 years that I’ve been here, two planes clipped each other,” says one Logan Airport spokesman. “It doesn’t happen a lot.” (More airplane stories.)
