Germans Mull Banning Facebook Parties

German police may find themselves cruising Facebook for parties to shut down if lawmakers have their way. Several high-profile, out-of-control house parties—including a 16-year-old girl's birthday party that drew 1,600 gatecrashers—have sparked calls for police to be given the power to ban parties organized on Facebook, the Telegraph reports.

"If public order and safety are put at risk, then Facebook parties must be banned in advance," says a Christian Democrat minister. Opposition lawmakers argue that a blanket ban on Facebook parties is too extreme.
