Crime / Dominique Strauss Kahn Strauss-Kahn Released From Rikers Also: He invited hotel receptionist to his room before alleged assault By John Johnson, Newser Staff Posted May 20, 2011 5:43 PM CDT Copied Dominique Strauss-Kahn, center, talks with his attorney William Taylor, left, in court Thursday. (AP Photo/Richard Drew, Pool) It took a little longer than expected, but Dominique Strauss-Kahn is free on bail. The former IMF chief left Rikers this afternoon, reports CNN. He will stay in one location in New York City for a few days, then move to a longer-term site. Strauss-Kahn put up $1 million cash bail and a $5 million bond. He also must pay for a private security firm to keep watch over him, but the IMF's $250,000 "separation payment" to him should take the sting away. The Daily Beast has details on DSK's stay at the hotel where he was accused of assaulting a maid, the most notable being that he called down to the receptionist after checking in last Friday and invited her to his room for a drink. She declined. Another tidbit: NYPD didn't know where DSK hours after the alleged attack until he called the hotel and said he thought—incorrectly, as it turned out—that he'd left behind a phone. "Instead of a phone, we brought him handcuffs," one cop tells the DB's Christopher Dickey. (More Dominique Strauss Kahn stories.) Report an error
