Superman made headlines last month with his decision to drop his US citizenship—but he’s still American at heart. That’s made clear in a new issue of Superman, which features the superhero reaffirming his love for the country, Bleeding Cool reports. “That’s the American way. Life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness—and second chances. None of us are forced to be anything we don’t want to be,” he says, gazing up at Metropolis.
The Man of Steel then reflects on “people from all over America—from all over the world —who went to the city to live the lives they wanted, to be the people they wanted to be. That’s the idea that America was founded on, but it’s not just for people born here. It’s for everyone.” Even people from different planets, apparently. Says Allahpundit at Hot Air: “I’m willing to let him stay if he undergoes a background check, pays back taxes, and learns English.” (More Superman stories.)
