Google Might Have Mole at Twitter

Google once paid an engineer $3.5 million not to defect to Facebook, but this is upping the ante: The search giant has reportedly offered a pair of key product employees $50 million and $100 million respectively not to jump to Twitter, according to Tech Crunch. And those mind-blowing paydays aren’t even the most interesting part of the story.

No, the interesting bit is that in one of those cases, Google apparently made its counteroffer before the employee told them he was considering a job at Twitter. Sources at Twitter say they believe someone fairly high up in the company must be leaking information to Google, and they’re furious about it. Of course, Google's had its own trouble with leaks in the past.
