The Montreal Canadiens coasted to victory behind Saku Koivu's goal and assist to put away the Philadelphia Flyers 5-2, reports the AP. The Flyers' third loss in four games gave Koivu and company their sixth straight win as the sellout crowd took every chance to mock Flyers' center Daniel Briere, who snubbed their contract offer in favor of a free-agent deal in Philly.
Canadiens' goalie Cristobal Huet had lots of help from his defense, which allowed but 19 shots on goal—less than half as many as Montreal's 41 tries. Martin Biron saved 36 of those, but gave up the others to Koivu, Alex Kovalev, Tom Kostopolous, Guillaume Latendresse, and Christopher Higgins. (More NHL stories.)
