Boston's Logan Will Get G-Rated Scanners

Boston's Logan airport will be the nation's first to receive scanners that show a stick figure passenger instead of the X-rated "baggage" that has created so much controversy. “All you’ll have is stick figure and a little block around each anomaly on you," a TSA official tells the Boston Herald, explaining that an "anomaly" might be a cell phone or a belt. "But there would not be a human image of me.”

He says the devices will be more efficient—because images are seen directly on the scanner instead of being viewed remotely—and “remove the whole privacy debate." They should be in place next year. The full-body scanners have caused rebellion among travelers' groups, even prompting one to call for a “National Opt-Out Day” on the busiest travel day of the year, Thanksgiving Eve.
