Saw VI axed the competition in the final weekend before Halloween by scaring up $32.1 million—falling short of Saw III’s debut weekend, but notching the highest opening of the fall season. Steve Carrell’s quirky dramedy, Dan in Real Life, took second with $12 million, Variety reports.
Saw spooked the weekend's other fright flick, 30 Days of Night, which grossed $6.7 million in its sophomore week. The Game Plan raked in $6.2 million in its fifth week to become the highest grossing film of the fall season. And Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married earned $5 million, beating out George Clooney’s Michael Clayton for fifth place. (More Saw IV stories.)
