Christine O'Donnell wants Delaware voters to know that she's not a witch. The GOP Senate candidate addressed negative publicity head-on in her first TV ad, the Washington Post reports. "I am not a witch," announced O'Donnell, who told Bill Maher she had "dabbled in witchcraft" in a 1998 appearance on Politically Incorrect.
"I am nothing you've heard. I'm you," she continued. "None of us are perfect," she adds, promising to take on politicians in Washington "who think spending, trading favors and backroom deals are the way to stay in office." Some analysts say the ad will boost the controversial candidate's public image, although Maher noted on CNN: "I think when you have to start your campaign ad with, 'I'm not a witch,' the battle has been lost."
