Maddy's mom cried on Spanish TV today as she pleaded for public help and announced a 24-hour line to find her daughter. "Somebody knows something" about Maddy's whereabouts, Kate McCann said alongside her husband. "I think she is possibly being held by someone in their house." It was the McCanns' first televised talk since being fingered as suspects in the case, the Guardian reports.
Kate said she can accept public scrutiny as long as people help find Maddy. "I will take anything that is thrown at me," she said. She admitted to feeling "sad and lonely. As Madeleine's mummy I feel in my heart that she is there." Private eyes advised the couple to give the interview, which directed their plea toward North Africa and the Iberian peninsula, the Times of London reports. (More Madeleine McCann stories.)
